At Ryan, we believe that together our staff makes a difference for students and our community. The Ryan STEAM School staff of dedicated professionals are honored with the time it takes to do the collaboration and data analysis needed to meaningfully guide learning and instruction. This year, our staff professional development goals include building a knowledge base for the full complement of technology installed in every classroom to support learning and instruction. Our teachers will engage in a Learning Pathway to help them embrace the technology that supports that instruction. The technology and support comes from a generous grant from the Morgride Family Foundation. PD will also focus on literacy, math, and science goals directly linked to the School Improvement Plan, which is driven by assessment data, and the SMART goals developed as part of our STEAM visioning sessions.
The professional development schedule for August - May 2011:
August - Visioning, Teambuilding, Data-Analysis, and SMART goals setting for STEAM and Technology
September - Level One SMART Board Training and the Learning Pathway
February - Level Two SMART Board Training and the Learning Pathway
Spring - Clicker Training for formative assessments using Clicker Technology
On-going: Job-embedded time for PD in technology, common team planning time at every grade level every day, weekly staff meetings and collaboration time.
